Did you know that Illinois produced 317.9 million pounds of pumpkins in 2015? More than the next three highest states combined.

Those states are California, Ohio, Pennsylvania according to information supplied by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Now, that's something Illinois can be proud of. Illinois is king when it comes to pumpkins!

One Stateline county made the list of the the top 10 producing pumpkin producing counties in Illinois.

  3. Wayne
  4. Peoria
  5. Stark
  6. Moultrie
  7. Logan
  8. Kane
  9. McHenry
  10. McLean

Here are some other cool pumpkin facts you didn't know.

  • 77 percent of all pumpkins harvested for processing come from Illinois
  • Giant pumpkins can grow five pounds a day.
  • 80 percent of the pumpkins produced commercially in the United States are
    produced within a 90-mile radius of Peoria.
  • Pumpkins were once recommended for removing freckles and curing snake bites
