
All U.S. Flags in Illinois Ordered to Half-Staff by Governor Pritzker
All U.S. flags across the state of Illinois will be lowered to half-staff next week following an order issued by Governor J.B. Pritzker.
Why Illinois Flags Are at Half-Staff on December 7
Illinois Governor Pritzker has ordered all U.S. and Illinois flags to be flown at half-staff in recognition of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day on December 7.

The directive was issued through the Illinois Department of Central Management Services and applies to all individuals and entities that are covered under the Illinois Flag Display Act.
A Statewide Moment of Reflection
National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day honors the 2,403 service members and civilians who were killed in the attack on December 7, 1941, which was a pivotal moment that led the U.S. into World War II.
By lowering flags, Illinois joins the rest of the country in paying tribute to those who lost their lives, as well as those who answered the call to defend the country in the conflict that followed.
Half-Staff Details Across Illinois
Under the order of Governor Pritzker, all covered agencies and facilities must lower flags from sunrise on Sunday, December 7, 2025, until sunset.

The Illinois Flag Display Act orders flags lowered to half-staff to honor "every Illinois member of the armed forces, police force, fire service, and other groups covered by the Act killed in the line of duty."
