Illinois Family Gets Stranded in Missouri

Vanessa and Trenton Heuertz were traveling from Illinois to Oklahoma to spend the holidays with family when their 2018 Hyundai Sonata began smoking and shut off around 3 a.m.

If getting stranded in the middle of the night isn't bad enough, just wait, it gets worse.

A broken down car was just the latest hardship the Heuertz family has endured.

Illinois Family Saved By Strangers

Trenton Heuertz is a veteran and government employee who has been greatly impacted by missing paychecks during the government shutdown. With no friends or family in Missouri, two sleepy kids in the backseat, and little money to deal with a car trouble, they did the only thing they could do, call 9-1-1.

That’s when the kindness started rolling in thanks to a Missouri State Highway Patrol officer and Big Boys Towing and Recovery.

I don't know about you, but this story has inspired me to stop stressing so much about unimportant things and to start looking for ways to help other people in need.
