If you get convicted of drinking and driving, this is how much it will cost you.

The holidays are a fun time of year. Spending it with family and friends. Many you don't get to see very often. That means it's time to party.

When you go out to have a good time, please make sure to do it wisely.

It only takes one bad decision to ruin your life.

Getting arrested for "driving under the influence" will be thousands of dollars.

According to kitchenertoday.com,

"Drinking and driving comes at a high price and now a new study has determined just how much a conviction will cost you. The study by Arrive Alive determined the pocket expense drivers face upon a drunk driving conviction to be about $23,000."

That's a lot of money. Think of how many useful things you could get with that kind of cash.

The cost includes fees and remedial measures like fines, towing and impounding of your car, getting a breath ignition lock installed in the vehicle, insurance increases, and a lawyer.

Remember this month there are extra "safety checks" out on the roads too.

Just don't do it. Not only will it hit your wallet, but someone could be seriously hurt or even die.

There are so many alternatives like Uber, Lyft, cabs, designated driver, and more.

Please be safe.
