School Field Trip Season in Illinois

Fall is popular time for schools to go on field trips, and a visit to a local apple orchard is usually on the itinerary. When it comes to apple orchard field trips, the only thing parents usually need to worry about is their kid getting stung by a bee or having a belly ache from eating too many cider donuts, but that wasn't the case yesterday in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

Chaos At Wisconsin Apple Orchard

On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, students and adults from St. Mark Lutheran School in Eau Claire, Wisconsin were enjoying a morning at Bushel and a Peck Apple Orchard in Chippewa Falls when things quickly took a terrifying turn...literally.

According to WISN in Milwaukee;

At least 25 people, including children, were injured when two hay wagons being pulled by a tractor rolled over during a field trip at an apple orchard.

Thankfully, no one was killed when the tractor lost control going down a hill, but 3 people did sustain life-threatening injuries, and dozens more with injuries were transported to area hospitals.

As a parent with young kids, seeing something like this is absolutely heartbreaking...

As I write this, Bushel and a Peck Apple Orchard has not yet made a statement about the incident on social media, but the principal of St. Mark Lutheran School issued this note Thursday morning...

Better hug your kids extra long today...just in case.
