Happy National Puppy Day!

It's Monday, it's snowing, and you don't want to get out of bed. If you need a reason to smile today here it is; it's National Puppy Day!

Now you have an excuse to search for adorable puppy pictures, spend some extra time on dogshaming.com, and for posting your favorite pics of your own fur babies on social media today. Here's my two loves, Brooks and Urban, who are also unwilling to get out of bed today.

This adorable day does come with a serious message though. It was created to raise awareness for dog adoption, and as a reminder to "adopt...don't shop."  Millions of puppies sit unwanted and alone in shelters every day.  If you have ever considered adopting an animal, today may be the perfect day to do so. Take some time and research all of the animal shelters, rescues and foster organizations in the Rockford area. There are several amazing dogs available every day that are waiting for their loving and forever home.

If you are unable to welcome another dog into your home at this time, consider making a donation to a local animal shelter instead.
