Can I admit something embarrassing? I have never gone golfing before. Once when I was a teenager I went to a driving range in Wisconsin by my family's cabin, and let's just say the experience did not end well and tarnished me from playing the game ever again. Now that I'm much older I think it's time to give the sport a try again, but there are certain qualifications that need to be met for me to actually enjoy the game;

1. It can't be too hot. Anything that involves me sweating in the sun, heat, and humidity without any water to jump in to cool off is an absolute turn-off.
2. The game has to be quick. My attention span is not the greatest, and if I have to stand around and wait for my turn to swing all the time, I will be forced to find a reason to quit playing.
3. There has to be other entertainment. I can only laugh about my terrible golf skills for so long, so some food, beverages, and music is a must for me to no longer hate golf.

Rockford Park District's Glow Golf Event at Aldeen Golf Club

My daughters love to mini-putt, and they especially love the glowing, indoor mini-putt courses at Tilted 10 in the CherryVale Mall, so I know they will LOVE this cool glow golf experience at the Aldeen Golf Club too!

• When: Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 9 to 10 p.m.
• Where: Aldeen Golf Club at 1902 Reid Farm Rd. in Rockford
• Cost: $15 per person, and all ages are welcome!
