While gas prices in Illinois haven't made it back up to the level they reached a year ago, regular grade surpassed the $4 a-gallon mark again.
What were gas prices in Illinois one year ago today?
According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline on April 13, 2022, was $4.08. Today it's $3.65 a gallon and has gone up from $3.47 just a month ago.
The dramatic increase in price is apparently due to OPEC announcing that they will be cutting oil production by a million barrels per month beginning in May, according to AAA.
