Garth Brooks holds 13 CMAs trophies, won between 1990 and 2017, which means he's been to a number of CMA ceremonies over the years. The country star says his favorite memory from a previous CMA Awards ceremony is one from very early in his career -- and it's something that no one else saw.

"We’re sitting in the aisle, and this guy comes up and goes, ‘Hey, we’re not going to present it on the show, but congratulations, you just won for "The Dance," the video, and left," Brooks recalled to The Boot and other reporters in 2017. "I go, ‘I guess that’s how it works.’ And so, I couldn’t tell anybody; nobody would believe me. But that might be my favorite."

Brooks is nominated for CMA Entertainer of the Year at the 2019 CMA Awards. He won the trophy two years in a row in 2016 and 2017, and that 2016 win was his first Entertainer of the Year win -- and his first CMA Awards win, period -- since 1998. In total, Brooks has won CMA Entertainer of the Year six times; in addition to 2016 and 2017, he also won the category back to back in 1997 and 1998, and in 1991 and 1992.

The 2019 CMA Awards are scheduled to air on ABC on Nov. 14, at 8PM ET. The ceremony will take place live at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
