Elgin Fire Department posted a reminder to not forget our utility equipment when clearing all this snow we've recently received.

They posted a few safety tips on their Facebook page in what you should do if you find your gas meter under snow.

Also to make sure your exhaust pipes for heat and your dryer vents from the house are uncovered and not blocked with snow either.

This is a lesson and tips no matter where you live to follow with all this snow we've gotten.

Honestly, it's something I didn't even think about. I've been focused on shoveling my driveway and sidewalks I didn't even think to look at the gas meter.

Guess what I'll be looking at when I get home today?

Yep, making sure the snow is cleared from it and my exhaust vents.
