A Popular National Chain Just Closed Yet Another Illinois Store

National Chain Closing 150 Stores Including Illinois Location
Residents of an Illinois neighborhood will have to get their prescriptions filled at a new pharmacy after a popular chain closed its doors on Wednesday (11/8).
According to CNN, national pharmacy chain Walgreens is closing 450 stores of which 150 are in the United States. As part of a "cost-cutting effort," the closures will save “at least $800 million in 2024," according to the report.

The iconic Walgreens location in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood closed earlier in 2023. Made famous on TikTok and other social media sites for its location inside of a former bank.
Walgreens Closes on South Side
According to ABC7, Walgreens near the corner of 115th Street and Halsted closed on Wednesday (11/8), and anyone who needs their prescription filled will have to visit the Calumet Park Walgreens location at Ashland and Vermont Avenue.
Even as they're closing stores, Walgreens' vision is to build the "pharmacy of the future."

More closings are planned in the upcoming months but there was no indication if any of those locations are in Illinois.
