City of Rockford Launches App For Snow Info & Odd/Even Reminders
With northern Illinois' first snowfall of the 2020/2021 season expected to happen late Friday into Saturday, the City of Rockford is reminding residents of their latest technology. Tim Sullivan, who works for Rockford's Street Maintenance Division, has created an app that will undoubtedly come in pretty handy.
There are steps involved in downloading the app, it's not a simple search in Google Play or the App Store. And, once you've gone through the steps to get the app onto your mobile device you will be prompted to sign up via your current Google login or create an account. Then, there is a prompt to send you a 6-digit code to login in. Yes, there are a few tedious steps but it looks like it'll be worth it.
The home screen will list current snow-related operations, an option to view a progress map and a button for the snow and ice hotline.
The "hotline" actually gives the option to click and call or report snow plowing or salting issues via a form.
The most important feature might be the menu button. As you will see in the photo below, a lot of thought was put into all the possibilities residents in Rockford may encounter.
