City of Chicago Is Fired Up Over Rockford Coffee Maker’s Logo
The City of Chicago got hot-headed after seeing the logo for Rockford's Fire Department Coffee, now there's a lawsuit.
Rockford's of Fire Department Coffee (FDC) has a good mission behind their products.
10% of proceeds from every order goes towards supporting ill or injured firefighters and first responders. It’s great coffee for a great cause. Together, we’re helping take care of our nation’s heroes, one cup at a time.
It's not their efforts that are bringing drama, it's their logo. The City of Chicago says FCD stolen Chicago Fire Department's logo. As you will see in the side-by-side comparison below, the logos are strikingly similar. The City of Chicago claims the Rockford coffee maker ignored a written cease and desist but Fire Department Coffee says their design was appropriately approved.
Fire Department Coffee pursued all of the correct legal channels and secured an approved, registered trademark for our current Fire Department Coffee logo. Our company, which is founded and operated by firefighters, is reflected in our logo, a style that is used by fire departments across the nation. (Chicago Sun-Times)
Here's the side-by-side comparison.
Whatever the situation is, hopefully, things cool down quickly.
