Some people cannot start their day or live their lives without coffee, and I am 100% one of those people. I have never been too picky about what coffee I drink, it just needs to include caffeine and some delicious creamer, but once I tried Fire Dept. Coffee, I was hooked.

What Makes Fire Dept. Coffee So Good?

Is it because Fire Dept. Coffee has so many delicious roasts to choose from? Of course.

Is it because Fire Dept. Coffee's Shellback Espresso blend is the exact kickstart I need to remove the fog from my brain each morning? Absolutely.

Is it because they share fun videos that are filmed at the Illinois Fire Institute like this on their Facebook? YUP.

Seriously though, the biggest thing that got me hooked on Fire Dept. Coffee is two-fold. Firstly, it is owned by Veterans, run by firefighters,  was founded, and is brewed in Rockford. Secondly, they use a portion of all their proceeds to support first responders and Veterans who have been hurt on the job, (mentally or physically), or are facing any serious challenges in life.

Now that I have preached about the greatness that is Fire Dept. Coffee, (and hopefully convinced you to buy some right now), let me share with you some exciting news;

FIRE DEPT. COFFEE IS OPENING ITS FIRST CAFE IN ROCKFORD!

By now I'm sure you know that Fire Dept. Coffee purchased the former Al Grace Appliance building on W Riverside to use as their corporate office and warehouse...

BUT...they are taking their expansion one step further soon by opening a cafe just down the street in this now-vacant building they just purchased at 901 W Riverside.

Last month Fire Dept. Coffee asked Facebook to help them choose the outer design for their new cafe, and fans responded by the thousands!

Personally, I prefer the extra pops of red in Option A, but I like the end results even better...

So now that we know WHAT Fire Dept. Coffee's new cafe will look like, WHEN can we expect it to open for business? We may not know the official date yet, but WREX's article says they plan to open the cafe sometime in 2023. Until then I'll be patiently waiting while enjoying a variety of Fire Dept. Coffee's roasts.

I wonder if the cafe will be serving up local firefighters' secret station recipes? I sure hope so!
