If you ate at Chipotle recently in the Stateline, you may want to check your debit or credit card statement, ASAP.

Chipotle, who has locations throughout the Stateline, is warning anyone who used plastic to pay for a meal at any Chipotle location to check your credit or debit card statement.

You may be affected if your used a credit or debit card at any Chipole restaurant between March 24 - April 18th. Even though the breach took place between these dates, the potential for unauthorized charges after the fact is a possibility.

On the Chipotle website, an advisory was issued, warning customers that Chipotle detected "unauthorized activity" on a network it uses to support payment processing of purchases at their restaurants.

We immediately began an investigation with the help of leading cyber security firms, law enforcement, and our payment processor. We believe actions we have taken have stopped the unauthorized activity, and we have implemented additional security enhancements. Our investigation is focused on card transactions in our restaurants that occurred from March 24, 2017 through April 18, 2017. Because our investigation is continuing, complete findings are not available and it is too early to provide further details on the investigation. We anticipate providing notification to any affected customers as we get further clarity about the specific timeframes and restaurant locations that may have been affected.

At this time, the full extent of the breach it is not known. Chipotle has two Rockford area locations, on West Lane Rd in Machesney Park and on S. Perryville Rd, and two locations in the DeKalb area.
