Soak In Dramatic Views of America’s Best Big City From Heated Rooftop Igloos
During the height of the pandemic, there were many restaurants that got creative with how they served the customer, mainly by providing carryout or offering their menu on GrubHub and UberEats.
Another trendy concept during the pandemic was restaurants offering their dining experiences inside a plastic igloo, and now that's turned into a popular dining activity during the cold midwestern months.
According to their website, Kennedy Rooftop is on top of the Hyatt Place Hotel at Wicker Park in Chicago and offers "an Urban Chic Rooftop to celebrate the people and the city" and has high-end cocktails and gourmet eats and desserts.
With seating for up to six people, there are four different dining options listed on the Kenndy Rooftop reservation website for the igloo experience and the most expensive is the Bottle Service Igloo Experience for $349 for 1 hour and 45 minutes and includes Champagne, Vodka, Gin, Tequila, and more.
For wine lovers, the Winter Wineland experience offers three bottles of wine, shareable food, and a dessert. The Skyline package includes a 52-ounce fishbowl cocktail package along with shareable food and dessert.
Panoramic views of the Chicago skyline can be enjoyed from inside the heated igloos, but reservations are required for this dining experience at Kennedy Rooftop above Wicker Park at the Hyatt Place, with a $75 deposit required to reserve an igloo.
In Rockford, the Alchemy at Aldeen also offered igloo dining last year and shared a video showing the magical lights and igloos during the first snowfall of last season.
We reached out to Alchemy at Aldeen to see if they will have igloo dining again this year but haven't heard back yet. We'll keep you posted.
