Buffalo Grove Wants To Take Line-Of-Duty Benefits From Firefighter’s Widow
Please, forgive me for what I am about to say because this story pisses me off.
According to DailyHerald.com, "The village of Buffalo Grove will appeal a decision from its Fire Pension Board granting line-of-duty death benefits to the family of a veteran firefighter who died this year after a lengthy battle with cancer," officials announced Wednesday.
Are you freaking kidding me?
The way people treat others because of money never ceases to amaze me. This is a man who put his life on the line on a daily basis to protect the Village of Buffalo Grove.
Kevin Hauber is the firefighter's name and he was awarded line-of-duty benefits because it was ruled that his cancer was caused by his duties as a firefighter. To try and reverse that decision takes a person (monster) with no moral fiber. Kinda like stealing candy from a baby.
"As leaders, we must ensure any increased pension liabilities that raise the property tax burden on residents, businesses and property owners are fairly levied; we believe this case does not meet the legal standard to justify a 100 percent line-of-duty death benefit," Village President Beverly Sussman said in announcing the appeal.
First responders and military personnel always get the short end of the stick and I am sick of it.
This is a bunch of penny-pinching crap. I am gonna get out of here before I say something that gets me fired. I hope you will make some noise about this and help put the pressure on.
