Few details are available as of this article but, according to WREX, a firefighter was killed last night. At 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, emergency crews were tending to a medical emergency in Appleton, Wisconsin when gunfire erupted. A firefighter, police officer, and two individuals were shot during the incident. The police officer is hospitalized and recovering. Sadly, the firefighter succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities have made no mention of a suspect in custody other than stating, "there is no ongoing threat to the community."

A procession was held overnight in Milwaukee as the firefighter’s body was brought to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office. Firefighters lined the street as emergency vehicles escorted the body. (WREX)

Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected and, as always, truly appreciative of all first responders.
