Employees and customers were suddenly evacuated from a Walmart in Rockford just after noon today (Wednesday) for an apparent bomb threat.

Northridge Walmart in Rockford, Illinois Evacuated for Bomb Threat

According to the post from the Rockford Police Department at 12:34 pm on Wednesday, July 17, the Bomb Unit was at the Northridge Walmart in Rockford for a "bomb threat."

The store has been cleared and video from the Loves Park Neighborhood Watch Group showed employees standing out in the parking lot between Alpine Road and Forest Hills Road where police tape is blocking the building entrance and most of the front parking lot.

One member of the Bomb Squad was seen in full protective gear as he entered the Walmart, and possibly a robot was also being used to identify any potential bombs or other threats inside the store.

Unconfirmed reports were saying a bomb could be inside a backpack inside the store, but nothing official had been released by Rockford Police at the time this article was published.
