Where is the money in America? Apparently a lot of it is living near Lake Michigan in Illinois as one of those cities landed on the top 10 richest cities in America list.

I saw this story shared by World Population Review. It's a survey of wealth that I believe originated from a Bloomberg report. They included a map showing dots on the top 10 richest locations in the country and you'll notice one of them is tucked next to Lake Michigan in Illinois. It's Glencoe, Illinois which means Chicago.

How did they decide which cities were the richest?

According to the World Population Review story, this who's who of the rich and famous is broken down by average median income. In other words, the "average" income for each family which in Glencoe, Illinois is a shocking $339,883. That's "average". Right.

Where's the rest of the big money?

Among the top 10, there are 3 cities in California, 1 in Colorado and another in Texas along with some East Coast representatives. It appears the wealth is fairly concentrated, too. They state that of the top 100 richest cities, 37 are located in just 6 counties. Guess that means Bill Gates likes to hang out near Harrison Ford maybe?
