Blackhawks fans are so glad that our mascot doesn't look like a hot mess.

After you see the new Philadelphia Flyers mascot, you will agree.

OMG! What in the world is that?

Many fans have taken to Twitter to voice their opinions.

And it doesn't look good.

In fact, one fan described Gritty as "a Sesame Street character did 12 pounds of coke and then rolled around in a pool of Cheetos dust." (Fox News)

Others have said that Gritty was "Hopefully a short-lived mistake."

Ouch, those comments sting.

In Gritty's defense, the Flyers say that he is "the ultimate Flyers fan who loves the orange and black, but is unwelcoming to anyone who opposes his team." His name "stems from his "possessing an attitude so similar to the team he follows."

Oh ok. So are they saying Gritty is going to be a complete jerk then?

Hmm... no wonder he looks like a hot mess. A cross between Animal from the Muppets and Snuffleupagus from Sesame Street.

I'm so glad we have our Tommy Hawk. He's funny and most importantly his name and what he is makes sense.
