‘Bizarre’ Illinois Weather Stays Hot, Dangerous Weekend Storms
It's been the longest stretch of days hitting 90 degrees in Rockford for several years, and it looks like the heat is sticking around.
Weather Stays Hot with Storms Rolling in For Weekend
The current forecast from the Weather Channel predicts temperatures will remain hot in the upper 80s and lower 90s through Sunday (6/23), then a little break on Monday with a high in the mid-80s.

But right after that, it heats right back up with another 90-degree day in the forecast for Tuesday (6/24).
Forecaster Calls Weather Pattern 'Bizarre'
According to the Max Velocity forecast on YouTube, even more record-breaking heat is in the forecast, along with the threat of damaging thunderstorms with "very large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes" possible through next week.
Long-term weather models are showing even more potential for damaging thunderstorms at the end of June and into July, according to Max Velocity.
Chance of Thunderstorms Every Afternoon Through June?
This time of year is pretty active weather-wise with thunderstorms in the Stateline area, and it's shaping up that way as Summer officially begins on Thursday, June 20.
According to the extended forecast for Rockford from the Weather Channel, there's at least a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms 7 out of the next 11 days in June.
