Sometimes a concert moment becomes way bigger than the song itself, and that moment happened this past weekend in Rosemont, Illinois.

A Promise Made in Indianapolis

10-year-old Austin, a Garth Brooks fan from Indianapolis, got a promise from the country superstar during Brooks' tour stop in Indiana after Austin brought a sign asking him to perform "Cold Like That" during Garth's August show.

Brooks tried to oblige, but suddenly went blank when he attempted to remember the lyrics. Instead of letting the moment end there, Brooks promised Austin and his family that he would fly them to Chicago, where he could rehearse and make it happen.

Austin Gets His Song in Rosemont

That promise was kept Saturday night, September 12, at Allstate Arena just outside of Chicago, during the third of Garth's four shows.

Austin and his family were sitting in the front row when, about 30 minutes into the concert, Brooks stopped and said he needed five minutes to make something right.

He explained the story to the crowd, remembering how he had completely gone blank in Indianapolis. Brooks joked that, at that moment, he couldn't even remember his mom's name.

Then came Austin's backup plan.

The young fan had made a new sign containing the lyrics to "Cold Like That," just in case Garth needed a little help.

A Moment Austin Won't Forget

As Brooks performed the song, he eventually laid down on the stage directly in front of Austin while the young fan sang every word along with him. When the song ended, Brooks gave him a high-five before Austin asked Garth to sign his cowboy hat.

But the moment had one more twist when Garth asked Austin to sign his hat, too.
