Dr. Dennis Norem made his weekly visit to the show to give us the latest on the coronavirus, COVID-19, and the vaccine rollout.

For approximately the 35th straight week, Dr. Norem wanted to initially focus on encouraging people to get the vaccine if they have not already. I fully realize that is getting to be a broken record for some people but it remains the safest way out of the pandemic according to literally every medical professional we have ever talked to on the show.

You can listen to the whole interview here:

Who Is The Safest From Contracting COVID?

With the rise of both positive COVID cases and people being admitted to the hospital with COVID, Illinois and many other states have reintroduced mask mandates. No matter where you stand on the efficacy of masks, it cannot be denied that COVID and its variants are once again coursing thought the veins of America.

That led to today's question to Dr. Norem. Who is safer from COVID? Those who are fully vaccinated or those that contracted COVID, got better, and have natural antibodies? It is a very common rebuttal to those hesitant to get the vaccine and the logic makes sense. Natural immunity should be better than a vaccine but a lot of things concerning COVID are counter-intuitive in general.
Dr. Norem appreciated the question, and even elicited a "That's a very good question." Unfortunately Dr. Norem, or any doctor that doesn't have an agenda, didn't have an answer to this question. It's just too early to tell. Dr. Norem grants that it is possible that those with natural antibodies are better protected, but it's not something he would bet his health on.
We thank Dr. Norem for his time. We went over a lot more than just the above topic. We learn something from him every week, I'm pretty sure you will too.
Dr. Norem joins us every Monday morning at 7:05 on 1440 WROK.
