Do you like to visit bars filled with fancy drinks and fancy people, OR do you prefer a bar with low price drinks, questionable bar décor, and nice people to talk to? If you prefer the latter, you are going to love these five dive bars in Wisconsin.

Dive Bar People

Last Saturday we were in Lanark, Illinois for my daughter's basketball tournament and we had some time to kill between her first and second games so we went to eat lunch at The Crooked Roof.

When my daughter first saw the building she said, "this place looks bad, are we really going to eat here?" to which I quickly responded; "honey, we are dive bar people, I bet this place is going to be awesome". Turns out, I was right and we definitely enjoyed eating there with her team.

Besides being pleasantly surprised with the service and food at The Crooked Roof, I realized something else; I really excited for dive bar season to return.

Wisconsin Dive Bars

To be fair, dive bars don't really have a season and most of them are open all year for your drinking enjoyment, BUT for me, summer is dive bar season.

There's just something I love about day drinking in a dive bar during the summer, and one of my favorite things to do is stop at a dive bar while we're boating or 4-wheeling in Wisconsin. The drinks are cold and cheap, the jukebox selection is good, and no one in the bar cares if I have mud on my clothes or my hair looks like crap.

Most of our summer free time is spent in Wisconsin, not too far from the Dells, and this area is bursting with small dive bars to visit. If you really want to experience the diviest of dive bars that Wisconsin has to offer, here are 5 you definitely need to check out first...

If you've never heard of any of those dive bars before, please allow me to give you a visual preview of two of them...the ones I think are the best of the worst.
