Be Severe Weather Ready This Afternoon in Rockford

Better make sure your weather radios and flashlights have fresh batteries, because it looks like Rockford could get a dose of severe weather tonight.

Here's a breakdown of what we can expect as we head into this afternoon and evening from the US National Weather Service Chicago:

That forecast doesn't sound too bad, right?

We can deal with some hail and thunderstorms if we  have to, but it's this post from WIFR's Chief Meteorologist Mark Henderson that has me a tad worried:

I'm not sharing this information to be all fear-mongery, but it's always best to be prepared for the worst and to stay aware.

Let's just hope all we see is a good dose of April showers for all those pretty May flowers today.
