Be On The Lookout For A Phone Call Scam

Have you received a call from the Illinois Sheriff's Association? If you have, ignore it.

Channel 17 WTVO is reporting that there has been someone who has been calling area residents on behalf of the Illinois Sheriff's Association and asking for donations.

According to the article:

"The Illinois Sheriffs' Association warns residents have been receiving phone calls where someone claims to represent the organization and asks for a donation.  The association says it would never ask for donations over the phone."

If you receive a call like this, they ask you to just hang up. I hate when innocent people are taken advantage of, especially when the men and women who serve and protect us each day are used in that scam.
