If you grew up playing Barbies then the familiar blonde hair, big boobs, tiny waist and long legs were just the standard for the doll.

Now Barbie is getting a new body, or I should say new bodies.

WGN reports that Barbie is sporting her new look on the cover of TIME magazine.

Mattel Inc. "says it will start selling Barbie’s in three new body types — tall, curvy and petite. She’ll also come in seven skin tones, 22 eye colors and 24 hairstyles." Wow! Now that's a variety of Barbies to choose from.

This is the company's attempt to bring girls back to playing with their dolls instead of turning their attention to tablets, and other technological toys.

They also said that the original Barbie will be sold along side the new body Barbies.

Part of me, I think this cool to have such a wide variety of dolls than just the standard. However, another part of me, well I don't think it's really necessary. My sister's and I played Barbies all the time and I never compared myself to the doll. I guess I had a solid understanding of what was make believe as a kid.

What do you think about this? Is it needed, necessary or not really.?
