After the Freeport School District Board of Education approved the move, the district announced that the transition begins this week.

Freeport students in grades 5-12 transitioned to remote learning last week, due to the rise in COVID-19 infections. As the number of infections rise, the district now feels it's best that ALL students begin remote learning. Thursday, November 5 will be the last day of in-person learning in the elementary schools. Full remote learning begins Friday, November 6.

Freeport students will return to the classroom on Monday, November 30, after Thanksgiving break.

The Stephenson County Health Department and the Freeport School District Board of Education believe the move is a great way to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, which has hit both the student and staff populations pretty hard.

The district has also made plans to continue to provide meals to students.
