'A League of Their Own' is a Rockford favorite and this fall, four actresses from the movie will be in town to celebrate the life of Penny Marshall.

My first introduction to Rockford was watching 'A League of Their Own,' as a little girl who loved to play softball.

Little did I know I would end up living and working in Rockford and being here in the city for a huge celebration to honor the director of the movie, Penny Marshall.

Penny passed away late last year and Rockford is celebrating her life and raising money for the IWBC.

While Tom Hanks is part of the committee, he is likely to skip the event, however four women who starred in the movie will be in attendance: Tracy Reiner (Betty Spaghetti), Megan Cavanaugh (Marla Hooch), Anne Ramsey (Helen Haley) and Patti Pelton (Marbleann Wilkinson).

Tickets are $100 for the event, which is September 13 at Indoor City Market in Downtown Rockford.
