Illinois Mom Hits a Home Run With New Musical About the Rockford Peaches
The 'Girls of Summer' are taking the stage in a just a few weeks to continue what has been quite a summer for our Rockford Peaches.
I've known about the Rockford Peaches for the last 30 years give or take a few, but I've learned more in the last few weeks than I ever expected.
Did you know Rockford tore down the original Beyer Stadium right around the time 'A League of Their Own,' was released?
I found that out last weekend after I played in the celeb softball game with one of those movie star Peaches, Megan Cavanagh.
But she's not the only Rockford Peach out there, there's a new crop of ladies and this time they're spending more time on the stage than the ball field.
The new musical 'Girls of Summer,' is based on the original Rockford Peaches, taking place in 1943 when the team was established.
Courtney Walsh and her husband Adam wrote the musical to celebrate our Peaches and the All American Girls Professional Baseball League.
Courtney and Adam own The Studio, who is producing the musical which premieres on Friday, July 22 at Rockford University's Maddox Theatre.
Three of the lovely ladies who star in the musical stopped by Good Day Stateline for tonight's show, (Friday, July 8), and are just so ready to sing and dance for all of us!
The show runs Friday July 22 - Sunday July 24 and then again Friday, July 29 - Sunday, July 31 and you can grab tickets here.
