Keep in mind that there's a big difference between "Can" and "Should."

There was a story that went a little viral on social media today about a guy that "saved $1,500 a month" by eating all his meals at a Six Flags in California.

Dylan was the guy's name. Apparently Dylan was an engineering intern near Six Flags Magic Mountain in Santa Monica, California. Dylan found out that for about $150 a year, he could get free daily parking and two meals a day at Six Flags.

The food, he admits, wasn't great. It was amusement park food. But he was young, and that is definitely the kind of stupid thing you do when you're young.

Now this was back in 2013 and also in California. I wondered if you could pull this kind of grift here in Illinois at Great America in Gurnee.

It turns out you can.

All it takes is two purchases from Great America. You'll need to buy a season pass. That comes in at just over 65 bucks. Buy it now and you can use it for the rest of 2021 AND 2022.

That gets you into the park and gets you the free parking.

Side note: I cannot believe that they actually charge 25 bucks to park at Great America. That is a fantastic scam.

After you get that, you'll need one of the two "meal add ons."

Either the one meal pass.

Or the 2 meal pass

That's another 60 or 110 bucks on top of the original 65 dollar investment.

That will bring the overall total to 125-175 dollars for free food at Six Flags for an entire year.

Now I see three MAJOR flaws with this plan.

  1. You have to drive to Gurnee for this to work, no one wants to go to Gurnee every day, even if you live in Gurnee.
  2. Great America isn't open the whole year.
  3. You will probably die if you eat amusement park food every day.

Even Dylan admitted in the original story that once a woman came into his life, the corndog gig was up. I still salute Dylan, that must have been wild walking into Six Flags and everyone knew your name. Certainly a legend is some circles.

LOOK: Stunning vintage photos capture the beauty of America's national parks

Today these parks are located throughout the country in 25 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The land encompassing them was either purchased or donated, though much of it had been inhabited by native people for thousands of years before the founding of the United States. These areas are protected and revered as educational resources about the natural world, and as spaces for exploration.
