We've all joked about what we'd do in a zombie apocalypse, where we'd hide, what weapon we'd grab, and who we'd team up with, but if it ever actually happened, your odds might actually come down to your ZIP code. According to a new study by zombie experts at CanadaCasino, Illinois would be a rough place to try to survive.

Why Illinois Falls Short in Zombie Preparedness
They looked at factors such as population density, the number of hospitals, access to hunting stores, airports, and military bases. After cobbling together the numbers, Illinois landed near the bottom of the list, making it one of the worst places to be in America during a full-blown zombie invasion.
Chicago Takes the Blame for Illinois’ Low Ranking
Why? You can blame Chicago. I mean, people blame it for everything, and that was before the zombies showed, so why would it be any different now? The city is packed with people, which makes spreading the infection easier, and the state is lacking in resources per capita, like airports per person and hunting stores to get your gear.

The Safest State During a Zombie Outbreak
So, where should we go if we were to prep for zombie season? Alaska topped the list thanks to its low population, large number of airports, abundant fresh water, and military support. It's essentially a zombie-survivalist's dream come true.
