Romantic Winter Getaway in Wisconsin
Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and although my husband and I don't usually do anything extraordinary to celebrate the holiday, (we're a heart-shaped pizza and cocktails kind of couple), that doesn't mean we can't!
To me, romance isn't about spending tons of money or doing something extravagant, it's about spending quality time with the person you love. It can be as simple as cuddling and talking on the couch at home, OR taking a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life to enjoy each others company.
It doesn't take a lot of effort to create romance, but sometimes it does take a change of scenery, and I think this cozy and historic getaway in Wisconsin could be just what you need!
The Cothren House In Mineral Point, Wisconsin
Does spending a day relaxing with nothing to distract you sound like the perfect getaway? Check out The Cothren Cabin in Mineral Point, Wisconsin...
Technically, The Cothren House in Mineral Point, Wisconsin features two lodging options to choose from, a larger cottage and a cozy cabin, but let's focus on the cabin right now.
The Cothren Cabin was built 185 years ago, so it is definitely historic, but don't let the outside fool you, this cabin is adorable inside!
This Cothren Cabin does offer modern amenities like a main floor bathroom and shower, a gas fireplace, and a custom-made Queen bed in the upstairs loft. Children are not allowed to stay in the cabin because the upstairs loft is not exactly childproof, but...that just means you have an excuse to leave them with grandparents for the weekend. Reservations for this historic cabin do seem to fill up quickly, so you better book your dates soon, here.
If the Cothren Cabin isn't available, you could always bring the kids and stay at the Cothren Cottage which is a little bigger, and completely adorable too....
If you do feel like venturing out of this cabin or cottage, they are both located within walking distance of Mineral Point, which is a cute, historic town that features art galleries, antique shops, fine restaurants, and more attractions you're sure to enjoy.
