Winnebago County Isn’t Sure Why They’re Short of COVID Vaccines

On the same day that Illinois made their announcement about expanding who is eligible for the coronavirus vaccine in phase 1b of the distribution, Winnebago County Health Department (WCHD) says their short on vaccines. Dr. Marter of WCHD told WREX-TV she's doesn't have a clue why the state didn't send one of the vaccines, Moderna.

When asked why the county didn't receive their regular allotment of the vaccine, Dr. Martell says the state did not provide a reason.

It's no secret that some residents are leery of getting the vaccines or have blatantly said they will not get a COVID-19 vaccine. This seems crazy for me, we've been trusting science for decades, and all of a sudden millions of Americans are skeptics. It's a valid argument to assume these same skeptics would have a change of tune should they get a disease like cancer that may require chemotherapy or radiation to save or extend their life. The fact is, chemo and radiation (and other medical treatments) were discovered through science. And, for those who say "this vaccine was developed t quickly to trust", medical advances are incredible and far more advanced than 20, 10, even 5 years ago.

Medical experts and great doctors all over the United States are pleading for us to get the COVID-19 vaccine so we can get back to a normal life again.

Please be open-minded and consider getting vaccinated when your time comes. We need 70-80% of the population vaccinated to obtain herd immunity, at best we are at 0.9%. (Dr. William Renk M.D., SwedishAmerican.)
