Wine and Music Road Trips to a Breathtaking Galena, Illinois Vineyard

Nothing goes with warm and sunny weather quite like a road trip for some shopping and delicious food. Add some outdoor wine sipping and music, now it's perfect.

Galena, Illinois is a perfect 90 minute drive on Highway 20 from Rockford. I've made the trip more times than I can mention. Turn on the perfect playlist, open the sunroof and hitting the road is something my wife and I do regularly during the summer.

We usually plan nothing specific about our trip to Galena as there are so many things we love to do, we're open to just about anything.

However, there's always one stop we must make on every trip, Galena Cellars Wine. The families produce over 40 different wines, many with grapes grown in Illinois. Galena Cellars just 'cut the ribbon' on their new location at 111 N. Main Street.

This year we do have a plan to finally visit the Galena Cellars vineyard, just ten miles northeast of the winery, for the Music in the Vines Series. Wine and live music in the vineyard, starting Memorial Day weekend.

Music in the Vines happens every Saturday & Sunday, from Memorial Day until Halloween. If you've been spending all your time in downtown Galena, this seems like the perfect reason to spend some time in the galena countryside.

During the concert series you can enjoy wines by the glass or the bottle. Wine flights will be an option. flowing all day. You can even bring your dog as long as they're leashed.
