Why Did All 5 of Rockford’s Living Mayors Get Together Today?
Something very special happened at city hall today. All five of Rockford's living mayor's got together today, and it was for more, than just a group photo.
Combined, they represent more than 36 years of leading the city of Rockford. Pictured from L-R are former Rockford Mayors Larry Morrissey, Doug Scott, John McNamara and current Mayor Tom McNamara, and Charles Box.
All five gathered today for a briefing from Rockford Promise on some of its upcoming plans.
The Rockford promise is an initiative is built on the belief that education is the key to regional vitality and economic development. Rockford Promise offers
• an incentive for students to graduate from high school,
• the opportunity for a post-secondary education,
• hope for a career and economic stability,
• a reason for companies to stay or relocate to our community as the pool of potential employees have higher educational achievement, and
• support to regional economic development.
