It's January. The weather is cold in Rockford. The newness of the kiddo's Christmas toys has run out, and stir craziness is settling in. What's a parent to do? Simple; check out some of these fun events in Rockford to help keep the crazy at bay.

Just because it's winter and outdoor fun opportunities are far fewer, that doesn't mean there isn't a bunch of fun to be had in Rockford!

Family fun is everywhere in the Stateline if you take the time to look. You can go tubing or snowboarding at the Snow Park at Alpine Hills, enjoy some ice time during a public skate at Carlson Ice Arena or Riverview Ice House, or go snowmobiling, snow shoeing or cross country skiing in many of this region's fabulous parks. You also don't want to forget about Rockford IceHogs games at the BMO, or the annual Illinois Snow Sculpting Competition that begins January 18 at Sinnissippi Park.

    Royal Winter Ball 2017

    A Royal Ball is happening at Orchard Ridge Farms/The Pavillion in Rockton on Sunday, January 15 from 4 to 8 p.m.  It will be an enchanted evening every Beauty and the Beast fan will LOVE complete with elegant food, performances by your favorite Beauty and the Beast characters, dancing, roses everywhere, and much more!
