A disturbing video has surfaced of an arrest that took place in DeKalb over the weekend that has a lot of people asking questions.

According to NBC5, the video began showing up on Monday on social media. It shows an arrest that took place on Saturday, Aug. 26 near Lincoln Towers in DeKalb.

The video shows an officer choking and tasing a man. It is not clear what transpired before the video was recorded. The man arrested in the video was later identified as Elonte McDowell.

In 2015, a law was enacted in Illinois banning the use of choke holds by police.

According to NBC5:

McDowell said he was pulled over by Lincoln Towers off Lincoln Highway near the NIU campus and officers asked him to step out of the car but did not tell him why. McDowell said he got out of the car but when he questioned the officers, they attempted to put him in handcuffs and he somehow fell to the ground where the officers began to choke him.

The DeKalb Police Department has not issued a statement as of 11:30am on Tuesday.
