Rockford Mothman Sightings Highlighted In New ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ Episode
While there have been several reported sightings in the last few decades, the city of Rockford is now officially on the Mothman map thanks to a new episode of Unsolved Mysteries.
What is Mothman?
The Mothman legend started back in West Virginia in 1966, and since then sightings of a flying black humanoid with red eyes between 6 and 8 feet tall with massive bat-like wings have been reported throughout the United States, including many in Illinois...even Rockford!
Samantha Hochmann, executive director of Tinker Swiss Cottage in Rockford, recently told mystateline.com;
Around the Rockford region, there have been multiple people who have claimed to have seen a large, winged humanoid-like figure.
There have been multiple sightings in Rockford, New Milford—just kind of our surrounding area.
Umm...yikes!
While seeing Mothman on the streets of Rockford may not be something I ever want to experience, seeing this city city highlighted in a current Unsolved Mysteries episode certainly is!
Rockford, Illinois Featured in Unsolved Mysteries Episode
Unsolved Mysteries Volume 4 just hit Netflix and the end of July, and Episode 5 revisits the Mothman mystery.
Can you spot any shots from Rockford in this preview?
While it may be hard to tell in that episode preview, several scenes for Episode 5 were shot at one of Rockford's most famously haunted places; Tinker Swiss Cottage and Museum...
How cool is that?!?
As far as I know, no Mothman sightings have been reported AT Tinker Swiss Cottage, but it's history of other hauntings makes it the perfect setting for part of this episode. I can't wait to watch it tonight on Netflix!
