Back in August, I blogged about the Illinois Tollway art contest that was open for Illinois high school students. It's so awesome to see that out of 75 contestants, two are from right here in the stateline area and those two made it into the semi-finals.

WREX reports that Anna Peterson from Rockford Christian High School and Cecilia Schmitt from Hononegah High School artwork have been picked along with eight other Illinois students to be voted upon by the public for the 2016 Illinois Tollway Map Cover Art Contest "Save the Monarch".

"The top four entries will move on to the finals, where a panel of judges will select a grand prize winner and three runners up. The grand prize winner will receive a $400 gift certificate from Blick Art Materials and $200 in gift certificates from MB Real Estate Services to use at Illinois Tollway oases retail shops and restaurants. Runners up will receive a $200 gift certificate from Blick Art Materials and $100 in gift certificates for the oases."
