This week's Q98.5 Hometown Hero is beyond deserving of recognition. She is a great example of when men and women in the medical field are doing to save lives, empathize with families, and maintaining life with their own families in the midst of a pandemic.

Kathy M. of Machesney Park nominated Brandi McDaniel, an ICU nurse in Rockford.

Brandi works at Mercy Hospital in the ICU unit. Every day she cares for people with COVID and other who are critically ill.  She puts herself at risk daily to give the best care to strangers and to be there for in support for the family members.  I have seen her cry for loss of life, exhausted from long hours and worried about bringing the virus home to her 2 year old daughter and her high risk 16 month old son, who was a preemie, born 10 weeks early.  On her days off, she has physical, occupational and speech therapy with her son and spends time with both her son and daughter.  She is a very caring and dedicated Nurse, Mom, daughter, fiancé and granddaughter.  We are thankful for her and are very proud of her. She is our hero in so many ways.

As a Q98.5 Hometown Hero, Brandi will receive a $100 Amazon gift card thanks to Gustafson's Furniture & Mattress. Although we're certain she won't spend it on herself, whatever she uses it for will bring joy to someone, and that's what life is all about.
