Finally, the first snowfall of the season is here, and with the cold sticking around, it looks like the snow will be here for a bit. Might as well enjoy it, right? Here are some of the best places for sledding in the Rockford area.
The most popular places to sled in Rockford are undoubtedly Twin Sister Hills Park and the hill by the dam at (Rueben) Aldean Park in Rockford. With that said, those places and be jam packed with sled, snowboards, tubes, and more. Here are five other sledding options in Rockford (or near by).
Belvidere Municipal Park - Belvidere
There's plenty of parking nearby. Keep an eye on the kids, the Rock River is near by.
Jarrett Prairie Center - Byron
Plenty of parking.
Baumann Park - Cherry Valley
A big hill and lots of parking.
Krape Park - Freeport
Lots of parking and fun for all.
Ardon Park - Janesville
Not incredibly steep, but fun nonetheless. Plenty of parking behind the mall, too.
Sand Park Hill - Loves Park
Park at Sand Park Pool or along neighborhood streets.
Schnucks (11th Street) - Rockford
Short, but steep! Lots of parking at the grocery store.
