I'll give you a hint, it isn't deep dish pizza.

I know, you are thinking to yourself how could pizza, an Italian Beef Sandwich or a Chicago Style dog not be the most important foods that came out of Illinois.

Surprisingly, the most important food isn't savory at all, but sweet!

Thrillist put out a list of each state's most important food innovation.

Not surprisingly, Wisconsin and Iowa are both easy to guess. But Illinois? I didn't see that one coming.

Iowa's most important food is sliced bread. After all, the first machine invented and patented to slice bread was made in Iowa. So, maybe you didn't guess that. But, for some reason it just seems to make sense to me. Is there something else Iowa is known for that I don't know about?

Wisconsin is super easy to guess. It's fried cheese curds. Nothing says Wisconsin more than fried pieces of squeaky cheese. Mmm, mmm. Dip them in pizza sauce (trust me on that one) and you are in culinary heaven.

But still, what is the most important food in Illinois?

Drumroll please...

Illinois' most important food innovation is the brownie!

Didn't see that one coming, did ya?

...Did you know that the humble brownie can trace its origins back to Chicago, specifically the historic Palmer House Hotel? Do you remember the last time you actually made brownies, then decided to lick the spatula after you finished bringing the batter together? Did you see the face of God? Do you want to live in a world without brownie sundaes? Are you tired of answering questions? Look, deep dish pizza will always have its proponents and detractors, but the chocolatey indulgence of the humble brownie is unassailable.

Bravo Illinois, bravo. Thank you for making the greatest pregnancy craving food of all time.
