The Chicago White Sox Are Illinois’ 3rd Most Searched Baseball Team

The Major League Baseball season is only a day old and the Chicago White Sox are already playing from behind.

Look, it's not because I'm a Cubs fan that I take joy in this. Actually, I'm more of a Chicago fan. If the Sox do well, that's great. If they don't it's a huge bummer.

So to be honest with you, I was a bit disappointed to see that not one county in Illinois searched more the White Sox than the Cubs.

Worse yet, folks searched for the St. Louis Cardinals more than they did the Sox.

Why is that? Well, the southern part of Illinois historically has been Cardinals country, so it shouldn't come as a big shock. However, not one county anywhere in the entire state?

To find a county even close to Illinois that cares more about the Chicago White Sox than any other team you have to leave town and go to Iowa.

With a population of just over 12,000, Grundy County, Iowa is the only county in America that searches more for the White Sox than any other team in Major League Baseball.

Does this translate to wins? Absolutely not. However, seeing how little people seem to care about the White Sox in America, you have to wonder how good it would be for baseball to see them listed as potential World Series favorites?
