The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program is a federally assisted program that provides fresh fruits and veggies to elementary schools across the country with the hopes of improving children's diets and promoting healthier lifestyles. Recently, 15 Rockford Public Schools were chosen  as recipients for the 2017-2018 school year.

School may be out for summer, but over a dozen RPS 205 schools are staying open to offer free breakfasts and lunches for kids in need weekdays through July 11.
