Streaked for the Cure
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and I streaked for the cure!
I hate cancer. It's an evil disease that strikes so many without any real rhyme or reason. My family isn't a stranger to it either. I have two aunts who are cancer survivors. One had breast cancer the other ovarian cancer.
Each October I streak for the cure. I'm doing it to honor my aunts and survivors as well as those who fight the battle with cancer. I had my friend, who is a beautician, put this hair extension in my hair yesterday and I've sent my contribution to the American Cancer Society.
Although, my extension isn't directly linked to any one organization I did a little research to see what, if any, salons locally were offering pink hair extensions for Breast Cancer Awareness month and I found two in the area.
- Salon La T Da in Poplar Grove is offering "Pink Hair for Hope" extensions. It's a $10 donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. (815) 756-0101
- Reflections Hair Salon and Spa in Winnebago is offering $5 pink hair extensions with a donation to the cause. (815) 335-2080
There may be others, I just couldn't find them on-line. If you know of any please let me know. I'd like to recognize them for their support in the fight against cancer.
If streaking your hair isn't quiet your style, we have another wonderful way to help support the cause with our "Pink Party" this October 24th at Prosesser's Chop House.
