The Stateline has not received snow of any significance in over five weeks. The snow drought ends tonight. So how much snow and when?

The National weather service in the Quad Cities says anywhere between 1"-2" will fall here in the Rockford area tonight.

As far as the timing. The rain will change over to snow later this evening into tonight. the likely time for snow to fall will be from 6pm-9pm. this snow is expected to stick

The National Weather Service updated forecast calls for:

Tonight:
Snow, mainly before 2am. Areas of fog before 10pm. Low around 29. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Thursday
A 20 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 33. West northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

The Rockford area will remain below freezing into the weekend. If you are looking for sunshine, the next chance we will see the sun will come on Tuesday.
