My family has St. Patrick's Day traditions from food, to wearing green right down to watching a particular movie.See my family's heritage is English, Irish, Scottish , Welch, German, and Cherokee Indian. Since I was a kid my parents made it a point on St. Patrick's Day  to celebrate the Irish in our blood line.

We always have the traditional Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner (Yes I know according to what Little Zim read this morning that isn't an Irish tradition, but it's still yummy.) My Mom also serves it with new potatoes and carrots, along with the Pistachio Poke Cake for dessert. (I shared the recipe earlier today.)

We also wear something green. In fact today I'm wearing a green t-shirt that says "Everybody loves an Irish Girl" with my shamrock socks.

However, one other tradition we have, may be a bit unusual to most. We always watch "The Quiet Man" starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. If you've never seen it you must. Although, it isn't about St. Patrick or even the day itself, it's set in Ireland. It's complete with fighting action, comedy, and of course romance.

Every year I look forward to Mom's home cooking, being with my family and of course watching that movie. What are your St. Patrick's Day traditions? I'd love to know.
