With all the snow that has covered Rockford this season, how much do you think it cost the city? It may be more than you think.

Ever wonder what it costs for snow removal in a city like Rockford?

After chatting with City of Rockford Street Division Head, Mark Stockman, I wasn't too surprised. The amount is large, for sure.

He told me the bulk of the costs are contract pay for city street snow removal, which was over $500,000. Toss in the cost of salt and labor, and your cooking up some serious cash.

So what has it cost Rockford so far?

  • Labor: Almost $150,000
  • Salt: Pennies over $236,000
  • Contract Pay: $578,000
  • Misc.: $36,050
  • Total (This season so fa): $1,000,050

Cha-ching!
